From the balcony you have direct sea views. Zhung Kong supermarket is 2900 meters away, Chachacha Beach 900 meters, restaurant Cuba Compagnie 450 meters and dive center Dive Friends Yellow Submarine 1000 meters. The apartment is located on the third floor by US counting, and the complex offers a regular shared swimming pool. Layout of the apartment The apartment has two bedrooms: a master bedroom with a king-size bed and a second bedroom also with a king-size bed. There are two bathrooms, a comfortable living room and a balcony where you can relax outside. The open kitchen connects to the living room, is equipped with built-in appliances and includes a stove, refrigerator, freezer, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker and kettle, making it easy to prepare your own meals. This uninhabited islet off the coast of Kralendijk is part of the Bonaire National Marine Park and is a protected nature reserve. Water taxis depart from the boulevard and take you to white sandy beaches with crystal-clear blue water. The coral reefs around Klein Bonaire offer excellent snorkeling, with many colorful fish and often sea turtles in the shallow areas. Just so you know No BBQ – There is no barbecue available, but the coastline offers plenty of restaurants for a relaxed dinner. City sounds – Due to the central location in Kralendijk, you may occasionally hear lively island sounds in the background. Thuis aan Zee Apartment 2 2 4 The neighborhood The Kralendijk center area features the boulevard, piers, sailing and motor boats on moorings and colorful facades: here you are right between restaurants, bars, boutiques and the starting points of various boat trips, including sunset tours and the water taxis to Klein Bonaire. It’s ideal if you want everything within walking distance and enjoy strolling along the boulevard at night. For divers and snorkelers, Playa is a great base thanks to quick access to west coast sites; for foodies and shoppers, this is the place to be. Expect liveliness, convenience and the shortest travel times to all facilities in Bonaire’s main town, Kralendijk. Getting around Bonaire and especially the hotspots like Washington Slagbaai National Park, the remote pristine beaches, and the kitesurf and windsurf locations, are best enjoyed with a rental car, as our lovely Caribbean island has so much more to offer beyond the immediate surroundings of Thuis aan Zee. With your own car you can explore remote snorkel spots, dive sites and local restaurants at your own pace. We strongly recommend renting a car so you can get everywhere easily. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for nature areas like the park, a pickup truck or SUV is advisable. The park roads are unpaved and sometimes rough, making a regular car less suitable. The building is new. The apartment is clean and modern and nicely decorated and well equipped. Objectively, the apartment is five stars. There was a bizarre malfunction with some equipment while we were there, which is extremely unlikely to happen again. The management was good communicating about the issue, but the resolution is still not fully final several weeks out, sadly. Subjectively: we did not like that the bathrooms are in the bedrooms with no wall to separate the shower/toilet from the bed area. Divers, there is no place to store dive equipment. The area is quite loud at night. Cruise ships dock nearby which wasn’t nice to look at and made the area very busy. For us personally, I think a spot further out of town would’ve suited our needs better, and is where we had stayed on our earlier trips to Bonaire. But as mentioned above, this is all subjective. But unfortunately, due to lack of screen doors and hundreds of sandflies at the patio we could not open or enjoy the balcony or the view, and lack of AC in living room made it very hot. Living/Dining room bar is only place to sit and work and the heat made it impossible. We were very disappointed that we could not fully utlilize the place. The apartment is perfectly located on the boulevard with a breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea and Klein Bonaire. Waking up with this view is really great. The apartment is incredibly luxurious, good wifi and with lovely king size beds! The terrace was ideal for enjoying the sunrise.
