Close to various beach clubs and dive resorts and the northern shore diving sites, with restaurants and shops within a short drive. Hato combines convenience and tranquility: pleasant for families and water sports enthusiasts who want to get out quickly but prefer to stay in a quiet neighborhood in the evenings. Getting around Bonaire and especially the hotspots like Washington Slagbaai National Park, the remote pristine beaches, and the kitesurf and windsurf locations, are best enjoyed with a rental car, as our lovely Caribbean island has so much more to offer beyond the immediate surroundings of Den Laman Wahoo. With your own car you can explore remote snorkel spots, dive sites and local restaurants at your own pace. We strongly recommend renting a car so you can get everywhere easily. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for nature areas like the park, a pickup truck or SUV is advisable. The park roads are unpaved and sometimes rough, making a regular car less suitable. There is no public transport on Bonaire and taxis are limited, especially on busy days when a cruise ship is in port. The porch was private even though it overlooked the park with a constant lovely breeze. It was comfortable to sit out at all hours of the day (some of the ocean front room are just too hot in the afternoon to sit out and you need to wait for the sun to set). The location next to the park was in no way a problem - staff is onsite at the park that is very clean and quiet. The unit is spacious and was perfect for 2 couples travelling together with large bedrooms that each included a private bathroom. We have booked Wahoo again next year and can’t wait to return. Sunwise Bonaire was absolutely a pleasure to work with. They made the entire process effortless and very simple. This was the second year we used Sunwise, and the same staff person came to meet us at the condos, welcome us, and do a walk through. It was great to see the same people working for the property management company, and shows that they must take care of their people, which came across to us. Had some light bulbs burn out during our stay, called to Sunwise and later that day they were fixed, so very responsive which is not typical on a laid back island. Again, I would highly recommend anyone coming to Bonaire to book with Sunwise at any of their properties.
