Hato combines convenience and tranquility: ideal for families and watersports lovers who want to head out quickly during the day, but prefer a quiet neighborhood in the evening. Getting around Bonaire and especially the hotspots like Washington Slagbaai National Park, the remote pristine beaches, and the kitesurf and windsurf locations, are best enjoyed with a rental car, as our lovely Caribbean island has so much more to offer beyond the immediate surroundings of Bon Bini Bon Bida. With your own car you can explore remote snorkel spots, dive sites and local restaurants at your own pace. We strongly recommend renting a car so you can get everywhere easily. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for nature areas like the park, a pickup truck or SUV is advisable. The park roads are unpaved and sometimes rough, making a regular car less suitable. There is no public transport on Bonaire and taxis are limited, especially on busy days when a cruise ship is in port. Everything is clean and tidy, with plenty of towels and “leftover basic items” such as coffee capsules and dishwasher tablets, so you don’t have to buy everything on the first day of your holiday. It is wonderful to have a private bathroom for each bedroom, and all the rooms are spacious and cozily furnished. The pool is kept clean, the neighbors greet you in a friendly way, and the complex was wonderfully quiet. The location is also great, with a small shopping center 100 meters away and various restaurants and resorts nearby, such as Chogogo and Buddy Dive. We will definitely be back!
